Manifest Scholar in Residence
2025/2026
Gregory Corrigan
Gregory Corrigan holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography and Visual Communications Design from the John Herron School of Art.
Gregory’s early career spanned graphic design and art direction roles at various companies, agencies, and institutions in Central Indiana. Subsequently, he pursued his artistic interests by enrolling in Yale University’s Summer Program in Graphic Design and the Basel School of Design.
During his tenure at the Basel School of Design, Gregory collaborated with graphic designer Paul Rand as an assistant. Upon his return from Basel, Gregory assumed the position of Assistant Professor at Purdue University. After several years at Purdue, he joined the Two Rivers Historical Society in Two Rivers, Wisconsin, where he established his work at the Hamilton Wood Type and Printing Museum.
Through the collective efforts of volunteers, educators, and other esteemed professionals, the Hamilton Wood Type and Printing Museum gained recognition among artisans worldwide. In his evenings, Gregory engaged in drawing and painting studies under Craig Blietz at the Barnsite Academy in Kewaunee, Wisconsin.
Gregory returned to Indianapolis to care for his aging mother. During this period, he encountered an inspiring group of artists at the Manifest Drawing Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Artist's Statement:
My artistic practice is driven by a desire to learn about both art and myself. I find that the most intriguing aspect of creating art is exploring and expressing the emotions and sensations evoked by a particular scene. I employ direct means to facilitate this exploration, and drawing and black and white photography have proven to be invaluable mediums for this purpose. My motivation for this pursuit is the profound sense of satisfaction derived from discovering new elements within my completed works.
My studio philosophy revolves around the principles of continuous learning, meaningful growth, and practical application. I believe that art is not merely a form of expression, but a means of self-discovery and understanding. My work is a continuous journey of exploration and experimentation, and I am committed to refining my skills and expanding my artistic horizons.
