Open Session

Very short poses, to develop speed and capture energy!

SPECIAL GUEST MODELS: 3 Live Birds from Raptor Inc. including
A great horned owl, peregrine falcon, and red shouldered hawk.

Cost: $15 ($6 students with valid student i.d.)
(participants must register in advance or upon arriving at the Drawing Center)

Join us for QuickDraw, a high-energy afternoon of uninstructed gesture and short-pose figure drawing. QuickDraw Sessions provide artists of all ages, multi-aged groups, and families the opportunity to engage in figure drawing in an open and creative environment.

What are gesture drawings?

More than just a warm-up exercise, gestures are quickly executed drawings for the purpose of studying a human figure, or some other subject, in motion, and capturing the essential expression of form. The practice of gesture drawing helps to develop your visual memory and mark-making instincts, requiring energy rather than precision.

For March’s QuickDraw!, Manifest Drawing Center will welcome a very special set of models into our main studio - three birds-of-prey from Raptor Inc.! A Great-Horned Owl, Peregrine Falcon, and Red-Shouldered Hawk will pose amongst our various studio resources, including our substantial collection of cast sculptures. The second such partnership with Raptor Inc., this event is not to be missed!

Participants must bring their own drawing supplies, sketchbook, and drawing board (if needed).

Sunday, March 24, 2019, 2:30-4pm
