Description
One of the most difficult tasks a painter is confronted with is using the figure to paint narratively. In this class we will explore the topic of constructing narrative with the figure in the landscape.
We will cover:
-The different roles that the landscape can play in relation to the figure
-The impact the figure has on multiple environments
-The integration of the figure in creating imagery
-The relationship of formal narrative with conceptual narrative
-How to implement both in the painting with visual harmony
The first three days will be spent painting from the figure and the landscape separately, while the last two days will be spent incorporating the figure with the landscape both from memory and from painted studies. Emphasis will be placed on invention and the evolution of pictorial narrative within the image.
