statement

My artwork is a result of my research, contemplation, and intuition concerning the enigmas of life and science, however big or small.

I always begin with drawing: I create my own world that is both micro & macro, physical & intangible. Biological forms from the cellular to the life-size - morph together in the style of Medical Illustration. Objects and creatures sometimes float around in an imaginary intergalactic/underwater space full of strange encounters. Movement through time is important to me: I use dashed lines to show where things are going or where they have been.

My process depends on accidents and mistakes in order to evolve: creating a work involves letting go of control and then reacting to what happens. It's a give-and-take of spontantaeity and deliberation. A work is complete once I've achieved the perfect balance.

Through art-making, I attempt to address the enigmas of Life & Creation through creating. My work is an augmentation to the scientific understanding of life. Cosmic evolution, chemical and biological evolution, birth and creation these are the concepts that intrigue me and fuel my work. As with all of these processes, my work will change over time.
