statement

Art is the most valuable way of communicating one's translation of the world around them. There is need for those who show the world what beauty can mean in our time, to revive something meaningful over the devaluations of life and human expression that deaden post-modern culture. Through drawing and painting, I want to shine a light on humanism, portraying the complicated spectrum of human potential and most importantly arousing the powerful sensation of connection. As a translator of nature, creator, and mediator of the immediate, I let nature, passion, and focus guide me in my life-long purpose as an artist.

This drawing is a study done from life at the Angel Academy of Art in Florence, Italy. To me it represents the unwavering confidence of Sara as she sat in front of a classroom nude, day after day, while everyone was studying her body. Her austere gaze at the viewer relays the feeling that she is confident and aware of exactly what she is doing, taking complete dignity in the show of her body. More women should be as strong as she.
