statement

I create cities from memory and imagination in which I explore patterns of roads and buildings and ideas of organic and controlled growth.

These pieces are inspired by aerial photography of human developments and surveys of archaeological sites. I am interested in the different patterns people create as they settle various areas and what these patterns may suggest about their cultures.

My work pushes my understanding and definition of drawing beyond the traditional two-dimensional format and into more sculptural considerations of mark-making, line, light and shadow.
