statement

My Art has a global dimension: human. I observe, interact with and express the human being, human component, it's psychological and emotional dimensions, always having as a reference point, the center, the sacred--the absolute dimension. The parameters of my art swing between the human individual dimension and absolute dimension, as well from detail to general. The detail, as way of expression, becomes an attitude, a way of living, but always related to the general. They coexist, justifying each other.

I focus on subtle generalities, common intimacies, and general valid truths, as: love, longing, death, hope--which will never become over-used subjects, because they are eternally embedded in human nature and we will always identify with them.

Working on understanding and representing in a comprehensive way the Human Dimension, my artwork represents and materializes my experience and research on different levels of the human dimension.

Although drawing is my primary medium, the great variety of techniques and materials I use in my work meet in a fortunate way on interesting prepared surfaces, exploring the great resources of mixed media.

Most of my drawings are done on plaster prepared hard surfaces like solid wood or prefabricated wood panels. I prepare the surfaces just like you would prepare a wall: priming, plastering, sometimes using joint compound, sanding, priming again.

I leave most of times the edges of the artwork textured with the trowel impressions in plaster it has a contrasting, dynamic role among the other aesthetic elements.

My love for murals inspired the surface preparation and after I drew the first time on a wall there was no going back to paper. Most of the time walls will not be a perfect, smooth surface, which is great all the little bumps, holes, textures already have their own dialog going on with the light.
