My paintings address the impact of place. Initially drafted from familiar locations, the surfaces of the works become sites for ritual, memory and contemplation. Familiar spaces transform under the sediment of repeated painting and re-painting. Passages are re-imagined or lost. In my paintings, I aim to create spaces resonant with tension between what is ordered and disordered, plastic and ephemeral, representational and abstract.       bio born: 1988, Grand Rapids, Michigan   education Kendall College of Art and Design, MFA, 2013 Truman State University, BFA, 2010   selected awards/honors Excellence in Art Student Purchase Award, Ferris State University, 2012 Van Maarseveen / Timermanis Award, Festival of the Arts Regional Exhibition, Grand Rapids Art Museum, 2011 Student Union Purchase Prize and Juror's Award, Truman State University, 2010 Institute for American Universities Purchase Prize, Aix-en-Provence, France, 2009   selected solo or two-person exhibits Gray Areas; Doubts, Rankin Art Gallery of Ferris State University, Big Rapids, Michigan Megan Klco, The Office of Mayor George Heartwell, Grand Rapids, Michigan   selected group shows Here.
