statement

Drawing has always been an important part my work - from traditional pencil on paper to drawing with thread and light. I am interested in drawing not as the sketching of an idea or representation of an object but rather an investigation into surface/ space, outline/ edge and mark/echo. Recent work reflects a particular interest in drawing as a form of contact and as a combination of gesture, mark and imprint. Referencing residues and traces - markers that are left behind which flag in some way an action, presence or connection which has occurred - 'Pinch' and 'Squeeze' are part of an ongoing series of drawings looking at the marks left behind by a touch or gesture.
