 Many of my paintings and drawings express solitary narratives in uneventful domestic settings. My work derives from my responses to evanescent moments in life. I strive to capture subconscious states of communication that relay innocently through posture and facial expression. Thus my concept is distilled and the work speaks not only to my own, but to the human experience
 They are artificial moments, certainly, but are invented in support of very real sentiments. Although I use traditional representational methods, I believe my work is subtly but firmly linked to the contemporary culture through concept, unlike it’s perceived antiquated stereotype. With emotion, perception and travail, I seek to find the best possibility of visual translation of the immeasurable realities that I see and experience.
 
 Paper Series
 
 My work, the Paper Series, is my response to 9/11. All of us, who are old enough to remember, will never forget that day. We can recollect where we were or what we were doing on that historical occurrence. My work was born out of remarks made by a female reporter covering the horrific events. She stated that she was one in the crowds as the buildings fell. She gave her account, as many did, but hers was different. She spoke of the aftermath of the event: how everyone was covered in a grey ash and paper debris flying everywhere for hours.
 Each piece is a description of a nude female figure with paper fashioned in several different states. The female represents the reporter telling the story. The paper represents the physical debris but also the emotional debris we keep within us. The palette is symbolic of the covering of ash each received. And the nude represents exposure and how vulnerable we really are. My work is a visual testament to her words and our remembrance of that day. It is a memorial for those who left us and a reflection on those who were left behind.
