Representing the figure is still one of the most challenging feats in art. I feel lucky to have been able to pursue this passion for as long as I have and been compensated for it. My aim is to strike a balance between honesty and beauty in my paintings. I want to bring a depth (maybe even a slight brooding) back into the depiction of the contemporary figure and steer it away from the existentialism of Freud, while still observing his extreme honesty. Though spirituality is in question under a harsh modern light, there is still a unique spark of consciousness in every individual that will always provide a mystery.
