THE OPEN SESSIONS

The Open Sessions provide an uninstructed life-drawing studio format whereby professionals, students, and the creative public can work side-by-side in common pursuit of excellence in the discipline of drawing (or various other media) while working from the nude model. This no-performance-pressure environment inevitably leads to new learning, support, and productivity that complements formal study (at the high school, college, or professional level), or other non-figure-related artistic work. Each session is moderated by Manifest Associates who are trained and well-qualified artists and/or instructors at the college level.

YEAR-ROUND Weekly Open Figure Sessions. Sessions are now offered on a weekly basis on Tuesdays and Wednesdays throughout the year. The only days we will not offer sessions in 2011 are December 20/21 and 27/28.

SCHEDULE:
Tuesdays, 7-9p.m. (short pose)
Wednesdays, 7-9p.m. (long pose)

200 hours of access to the live model offered each year across 50 weeks (not including instructed courses and Drawing Marathon).

PRICE for standard 10 session pass:
$80 per track (Tuesdays or Wednesdays)
($40 for students with valid student I.D. and academic reference.)
Other options including free high school session and multi-track Drawing League membership packages listed below.

This standard fee now offers each participant 10 sessions across a three month period starting with the first day attended. Note that we are no longer using a 'term system' with specific rigid start/stop dates. Participants' visits must occur in the track selected  throughout the period (Tues. or Weds.). Enrollment is non-transferrable. Session passes begin on the first day attended and expire when ten sessions have been attended or three months elapse, whichever comes first.

LOCATION: Hosted at Manifest's Drawing Center Studios in Madisonville at 4905 Whetsel Avenue (second floor) (see map and directions below). Manifest's studio facility provides two classrooms totalling 3000+ square-feet. The studios are outfitted with professional equipment, furniture, and study aids.

Drawing horses and easels as well as storage shelf space are available on a first-come first served basis. Supplementary seating, including chairs, stools, and cushions is also available. Participants should provide for their own supplies and drawing board, and assume all risk for items and art left at the studio.

MODERATORS:
Tuesdays: Daniel O'Connor.
Wednesdays: Scott Ramming.

Tuesday track will provide a mix of gesture poses for warmup and usually one 90 minute pose for the evening. At the moderator's discretion multiple shorter poses may be set up during any given meeting. ($80 / $40 student for a ten-session pass).

Wednesday track will provide 2-day or 3-day poses as the norm. This track is designed to offer the multi-day poses so larger or more refined works can be completed. ($80 / $40 student for a ten-session pass.)
