Introductory and Anatomy

Instructed by Charles Frymier

Life Drawing is a ten-week sequential course providing guided instruction in drawing from the live human figure.  While designed to be an introductory course it is structured to serve a wide range of skill-sets on an individual basis.

Life Drawing is the backbone of understanding how to depict the world. The rhythms and energy of the body could not be more personal, timeless, or evocative as catalysts for art making. Skills developed in the practice of figure drawing are broadly applicable to many visual art practices.

In this class we will address the figure as something familiar. Students will be given exercises that will promote confidence in drawing the complicated human form. Skeletal and muscular models will be studied early in the course and referred to often throughout. Most of the class meetings will be spent drawing from the live nude model.

Emphasis will be placed on individual progress in a positive environment. This class is about rigorous learning. The instructor will give demonstrations and there may be occasional lectures. The main goal of this class is for the student to develop a clear understanding of basic human anatomy and proportions, as well as strategies for approaching life drawing techniques.

COST: $250 ($175 for students enrolled in high-school or college progarm*)

Tuition covers the complete ten-week course and all model fees. Materials and supplies are not provided.  Tuition is non-refundable except in the event of complete course cancellation.
