statement

This body of work is concerned with the collective psyche of contemporary America.  The drawings explore the dual nature of people's self defense solutions.  The hazmat suit represents the need to create a safe barrier between the individual and any potential harm.  It also simultaneously inflicts a sterile solitary environment upon the individual, effectively removing them from the world.  This layer of living interference illustrates the compromise of a society that desires to be uncomfortably safe rather than freely facing uncertainty.
