statement

In as much as I only paint in watercolor, I believe that the underlying drawing is critical to the success of the finished painting.  To some extent, minor drawing errors can be corrected in a painting, but it is best to work out all the design and drawing issues before committing the brush to paper.  This drawing of Adelaide proved to me the importance of taking the time to "get it right" as the subsequent painting of her was an award winner also.  The drawing effort allows you to see shapes and values that might otherwise be overlooked.
