statement

This particular work is from a series of works depicting people in public places.  Whenever we are in public someone is always watching us.  These works are intended to remind us that we cannot escape the intrusion of an unknown observer.  There is a kind of dialogue between the universal element of a static location that will for the most part remain the same and the particular individuals that are present that make up the composition.  This image is both familiar but can never be reproduced exactly the same way again.

A work of art is ultimately a collection of marks made on a prepared surface.  Drawing is the foundation of most works.  The work itself is composed of a series of black dots.  Even though there is a digital image underneath, the complex work itself is constructed using the smallest fractions of lines and the simplest of all elements.  These fixed and static marks are identical and are repeated over and over again in order to create a kind of architecture that creates an image that mimics video technology that is by its very nature fleeting and elusive.
