statement

I hope that my artwork will resonate with the viewer: that those viewing my paintings will see the same beauty and sensitivity that I see in my subject. The created world truly is a marvel, and I count it an awesome privilege to represent that world through art.

As with most young artists, drawing laid the foundation for my studies in art. Since that time, I've grown to appreciate the intricacies of color in paint, but I still return to drawing from time to time. I find drawing to be a unique and incredibly expressive language, one I will continue to explore in the future.

My sister served as the model for this particular piece: Nina Thinking. I've included her in several artworks over the last few years, but I feel this drawing captures her best. She sits just in this way, fingers caressing her mouth, as she pores over homework or formulates a response.
