statement

I take portraits of women. I capture moments of hidden insecurity, damage and strength – slivers of intimate information. I aim for each of my pieces to read like a chapter in a book. I want each piece to begin a story, but leave my audience asking questions and wanting to know more. Most of my work is enlarged greater than life size, allowing the viewer to clearly see my subjects and their environments. The large format pushes the images of these women, their story and their emotions onto the viewer in a confrontational way, as well as, allowing fine detail to be uncovered.

I use my images to intensely study my subjects – their faces, glances, gestures and roles within their respective environments, every aspect adding another piece to a complex puzzle. Each woman is strikingly unique, from the lines in her face to the personality that she exudes simply in the way she holds her body. Each woman has a story to tell… a story that I aim to uncover and indulgently immerse myself in.
