statement

In my work, I am interested in suggesting open-ended narratives for the viewer to identify with and explore. Working representationally, I hope to use a common language that, while easily accessible by the viewer, can express complex emotions, moods, and ideas. Representational painting offers me the opportunity to reflect and meditate on an image. The act of painting is so much more than a recording of fact. Rather, it is an opportunity to communicate not just the way something looks, but the process of picturing something. In the process of painting, there are moments of struggle, of ease, of elation, despair, and resistance. We all have to work these things out, don't we?  Painting is just the way that I have found works best for me.
